TGJC Podcast and Blog: Well Being Monday: "Prayer Faith and Healing" Book Discussion Part II: Paths To Prayer

Prayer Faith and Healing Part II: Paths to Prayer

Major Talking Points: 1) Prayers of Affirmation and Prayer of Agreement  2) Daily Prayers and Prayers Without Ceasing  3) Prayers For Your Enemy

Sgement One: A) Prayers of Affirmations" Personify the power of the positive. Affirmations are uplifting positive encouraging statements of faith. They can be long such as Psalms 23 or short statements:  "God is with me."  The acronym from the book of ACTS:  acclamations confession Thanksgiving and supplication. The  Apostles Creed, Nicene for Athanasian Creed. Romans 8 31: "if God be for us who can be against us." Also quoting an affirmation "God is with me God is helping me God is guiding me"

Rev Norman Vincent Peale says "use positive bible verses to boost your confidence. .. replacing destructive thinking and destructive self talk with positive thinking and positive self talk."  "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."  Philippians 4 13

Adopting positive affirmations as a spiritual exercise. How do we best use affirmations? Everything has to be set in context of the "chief" affirmation: "Thy  will  be done."  We may not get everything we pray for. Our prayers need to reflect God's teachings.

Replace negative thinking such as "I'm a nervous wreck" to think "Thank you, Lord, for your peace, because your word says, 'Peace I leave you, my peace I give you (John 14:27).  Some prayers take time and we may not always get an immediate answer. Stay hopeful with prayerful affirmations.

B) Prayer of Agreement: multiplying the power of prayer. *One of the many benefits of multiple people praying making cover different topics and pray for different perspectives that the original person may not have to pray petitions up to God the Father

Bible says that one person can chase a thousand and lack of goals but 2 people can't put 10000 to flight Deuteronomy 32:30.  Jesus quoted saying "again truly I tell you if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask it will be done for you and my father in heaven Matthew 18:19. Wherever prayer of agreement is helpful when you are feeling down discourage worrying you are able to lean on another's strengths to build our faith on. Pastor Hammond points to Biblical Rule, "we can't expect God to approve of lustful or selfish desires even if we find someone to agree with us.

Segment Two: A) Prayers Without Ceasing dance of Life becomes a prayer. Pray without ceasing is commanded by a possible was writing to the church 1Thessalonians 5:17

Caring, lovingand living life are forms of prayer. Ancient Russian orthodox Church Quote: "Prayer is not part of life. It is our life. Our every thought word an deed-indeed every breath ought  to be part of the souls constant conversation with ever-present God in him we live and move and have our being"  We can remain in constant dialogue with the Lord. Working of the Holy Spirit. Thinking and praying for loved ones whilie talking to them.

B) Daily Prayer 9 Ways To Stay In Touch: 1) daily devotion 2) stick to the word 3) keep a journal 4) prayer in the morning 5) liturgy from church 6) make it a family affair 7) pray at work 8) pray at night 9) read work from the saints and my added suggestions are listen to the Bible while you sleep listen to the Bible during the day have some pictures posted on the walls or artwork music memory Scriptures daily count your blessings be honest with your feelings with God confess your sins.

Segment Three: Pray For Your Enemy Forgive and Let Go you ever enemies pray for those who have produced forgive those who have a bit as she says and also The selfish reason for my own good it's love unconditionally is what forgiveness is experience blessings of the god of love and for you too and forgot to answer our prayers we must be willing to forgive those who we feel have harmed us and ask God to bless them mark 11 25-26

We pray for forgiveness ask God to forgive us and ask God to help us learn to forgive. Knowing what forgiveness is and what it isn't. no conditions. Unconditional Love. We can't change our feelings but God can. Acknowledge that we are angry at a person or we feel guilty but that we're willing to not have those feelings. Acknowledge that we're willing to see the situation different. Real forgiveness is to forgive and forget. you can't forget without forgiving.

(Perspective) Biblical: Freedom In The House Of Mourning

Countless times I've expressed the expansive variety of options we're gifted here on Earth. Why do we limit ourselves to options ABCD, though? We're told we have free will. We're told we can do what we want with our bodies and choose when to have kids  But what does it really look like to have free will? I'll tell you now. Not caring about the options at all. Seeing everything as a gift. Realizing this world was designed to be enjoyed and lived in to the fullest extent possible. Again, why limit ourselves to simple options? Pick whatever car you want (as long as it's the color options they've presented you with.) Eat whatever type of french fry, icecream, or food that is available on the menu list at your favorite restaurant. We have personal preferences and there's nothing wrong with having options and opinions. The question poised here is simple: Are you really free, or just given options?  I was blessed to hear a wonderful sermon that presented this w...
