From The Book Prayer Faith and Healing For Our Monday Well Beings

5 Major Talking Points: 1 Prayer in The Spirit 2 Trust In Prayer 3 Visualization 4 Prayer For God's Will 5 The Lord's Prayer

Segment One: Prayer In the Spirit- Pg 118- "Deep inner prayer directed by the Holy Spirit - To Some, praying in unknown tongues or special language that is considered a gift from the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4)
-(Romans 8:26-27) - Spirit intercedes for us even when we do not know.
-When To Pray In The Spirit? When confused or facing situations we are unsure of how to handle. We can ask Holy Spirit to pray for us - When we don't know what words to use, Holy spirit Knows and prays with us and intercedes according to the will of God
-Pg 118 from Reverend Thomas Keating, "Christ lives in each of us as the Enlightened One, present everywhere and at all times, empowering us to experience and manifest the Fruits of the Spirit, both in prayer and action."
-Pg 119 -Life Application Bible, " Holy Spirit please intercede on my behalf in this matter, according to God's Will."

Part 2: Trust In Prayer- When life is rough we ask, can we really trust God? - How do we prove ourselves trustworthy? Pg 121: "By what we've done in the past. Our Track Record. God's Track Record, Christians believe, is recorded in the bible...we don't see an absence of pain, heartache, or calamity." (Job 13:15 finding peace in the pain.)
-"Romans 15:4 basically says that everything written about Job, David, or other Biblical characters was written to teach us," Pastor Steven Estes - John 16: 23-24- when praying ask the Lord's will to be done, and not our own. God may be protecting us by not granting us the desires of our heart.
-Pg 122- Pastor Charles Stanley: "God always calls us to live in the now, to face the present honestly, and fully, to do what we can do immediately, and to trust the future to God."
-Ways To Help Trust God More: Write Our Prayers Down and look back at God's track record of answering them. (Proverbs 3:5-6) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all of your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths."

Segment Two: Visualization - applying our God Given Gift of imagination to our faith used to enhance feelings of our faith, to help in healing, working through problems, strengthening relationships.
-Faith Building Visualization holding comforting image during prayer and meditation
-St. Francis de Sales on Pg 123 " Teachers of Visualization suggests that the practice makes our prayer lives more real to use and can help strengthen our faith...[some ministries] teach that if we visualize our prayers as being answered, it enhances our results." - the teaching is controversial by some- Mark 11: 23-24 - Many believe that, "while [we] hold the vision of that for which we are praying in our minds and hearts as through it is real until it actually comes to pass in the worldly realm. If Jesus promised that we could do certain things, such as lay hand on the sick to bring them healing...then we have the right to do these things" - Pg 124 "Doubt" many go on to believe nullifies prayers - James 1:6-8 "Walk by Faith and not be Sight."
-Frederick K C Prices PhD, "Believe that you have received," does not mean we ignore our current circumstances, "means we ignore the way they are looking through 'the eye of faith'"
-Prayerize - Pictureize - Actualize : Prayerize or hold conversation with God throughout day like you're discussing with a friend Picturize : Give problem to God and visualize success fully resolved holding in in mind while doing wll that is possible with intelligence and diligence- Actualize : "When we invoke God's power and give ourselves fully to our basic wishes, what we have prayed about and pictured comes to pass, sometimes in the strangest ways. " - Pg 126
-Visualize Forgiveness: Look at person with intent to love person as innocent. Ask Holy Spirit to cover us in love and bring love and peace to that person - Affirm mentally Your love for brother-focus on emotion of love-visualize love or light.

Part 3 Prayer For God's Will - Pg 127: " ...God hasn't abandoned us in our decision making," Reverend Steven Estes. " When we apply the following principles, one after another, we find something remarkable: God does us the honor of requiring us to think things out, while simultaneously making available His own infinite wisdom."
-God's Preceptive Will: not an option for Christians: 10 Commandments avoid sexual immorality, (Romans 12:1-2) Pg 128 "If what we want to do conflicts with something in scripture, we're certainly on the wrong track."
-Meditate on the Word- mental mining, into the Bible, ponder it, really pour over it like David did.

Part 4 Listening to Holy Spirit -Pg 128, "Sent to live inside Christian the Holy Spirit is said to enlighten us, principally by reminding us when we're messing up and helping us understand how Scripture applies to our specific situations." - Still Small Voice (1 Kings 19:12)
-Reverend David Wigley states when is trying to discern God's Will Pg 129 : "Guide me Dear God, and by your Holy Spirit give me the wisdom I need for what I should do or say."

Segment Three: The Lord's Prayer:
"Pray then like this: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the Kingdom he Power and he Glory Forever and Ever. - ** PG 132 : "If we can get past reciting it mindlessly, the Lord's Prayer has the power to Change Our Lives and the Lives of Others."
-Difference between saying The Lord's Prayer and praying the Lord's Prayer - Reverend Steve Harper
-Deciples request, "Lord teach us to pray." "If they had been satisfied by their prayer lives or thought that theirs was as good as His, they wouldn't have had reason to ask."
-Sheer repetition does not take away the meaning - not only a prayer but also a model or prayer template
-Prayer is Communication - Might not always feel like praying but that's when it's especially important
-Ways to Use the Lord's Prayer: Pray it Sincerely - Pray With Children Pg 137 from Dr Dodd "'Thy Kingdom Come,' to hear my little daughter pray for the people of Bosnia with passion and tears in her eyes, I thought, 'Wow, why we we keep our kids from hearing the real news?' They get it, as outrageous as it is! And it was a life changing thing for me.'"
-Pray Lord's Prayer with new believers, in Church with whole congregation, in Private, During Crisis
-Digging Deeper Into The Words "Our Father In Heaven"-An ancient word that carries connotations of obedience provision and mercy - "Jesus teaches us to approach God as one who loves us dearly and cares deeply about our concerns and our lives but reverently" Pg 136
-"Our" implies we are never alone Pg. 136 "We always pray in community even if we are all by ourselves." Dr. Harper

(Perspective) Biblical: Freedom In The House Of Mourning

Countless times I've expressed the expansive variety of options we're gifted here on Earth. Why do we limit ourselves to options ABCD, though? We're told we have free will. We're told we can do what we want with our bodies and choose when to have kids  But what does it really look like to have free will? I'll tell you now. Not caring about the options at all.
