Matthew 18:1-7 . Matthew 19: 13-15
The children were sent to receive blessings, these men interfered, again men who spent their time with Jesus daily, attempted to hinder their growth and spiritual development. Considering what the world does to modern children, it should not come as any surprise why we're seeing such destruction. #millstone
"At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, 'Who then is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?' Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My Name receives Me." -Matthew 18:1-6Jump forward to Matthew 19:13-15. So now little children are brought to Jesus so that He may pray and bless them, but the disciples rebuke the children. Jesus responds, "Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for such is the kingdom of Heaven. He laid hands on them and departed from there."
I appreciate the detail they add of Jesus departng from there after the prayer session. Imagine what He was thinking. He had revealed earlier that the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven were those who become like little children and humbled themselves. "Unless you convert and become like little children you will not enter the Kingdom." So children come, and the disciples tell them to go away. I can only imagine the frustration Jesus may have felt and the reason for him departing...in His thoughts, "Didn't we just go over this?"In an era where people are still pushing laws to allow the killing of an unborn child, the actions of the disciples really does not come as a surprise. These men followed Jesus and were in His presence, daily, could not even handle children coming up to Him, even after Jesus told them how precious they are. Modern day society can't even allow for them to be born.
Jesus departs from them after He blesses the younglings. One has to wonder if all the evil taking place in the world has anything to do with our response to children today? If we jump back to Chapter 18 verse 6: " Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depth of the sea." Then 7 "Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!"
The children were sent to receive blessings, these men interfered, again men who spent their time with Jesus daily, attempted to hinder their growth and spiritual development. Considering what the world does to modern children, it should not come as any surprise why we're seeing such destruction. #millstone
Clearly we haven't humbled ourselves like a child. We hinder them or literally destroy them. I can see why Jesus Departed
