(Perspective) Biblical: "Undead Saints"

Several Holidays land at the end of October, a couple designed to cause fear and anxiety. Saints and believers need not fear, Matthew 27:59-54: And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up His spirit. 51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. 54 When the centurion and those who were with Him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!” Film adaptations often leave many details out..."and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection..." And Pharisees thought raising Lazarus from the dead was a p...

(Perspective) Biblical: Possessive Obsession or Protective Patriarchy?

"This is a man's world," pops into my head a lot. I had often wondered why God even made females . Masculine pronouns describe the deity. Angels are masculine and found earthly women appealing, taking them as wives. Women are given guidelines on how they're expected to dress while men appear exempt. It's rare women are mentioned or addressed to in the Psalms. Psalm 148: 12 states: "Both young men and maidens." Oftentimes, during those periods of history women were at the mercy of their husbands. Reading Levitical laws will reveal this bias. Stories from Genesis and other Old Testament writings give several examples of this theme. The story of Lot offering his daughters to protect the angelic male spies, concubine offered to mob of men in Judges. And how many wives did kings acquire, plus concubines? This has upset me for years, plus the fact that more can be shared on this topic. But for now, let's consider, "Was all of this treatment simpl...

Tulare Street Bistro, Fresno CA

Tucked away in Downtown Fresno resides hidden treasure well protected by a dragon (amazing building artwork). The treasure, this Bistro. The turkey from my sandwich, tender, nearly melted as I chewed, gooey cheese, crisp toasted bread, the flavors and textures coming together creating the perfect harmony for the senses. The owner asked about our dining experience. I told him I was a bit upset upon the realization that so many people would not get the opportunity to experience this amazing meal. I was so humbled by this wonderful dining excursion.

The Drive-In Burgers Hanford CA

The Drive-In Burgers In Hanford CA! I ordered the YaYa Burger- Philly steak, mushrooms, onions, peppers, 3 cheese. I'll always eat a cheeseburger. Philly cheese steaks have been a childhood favorite. Those two combined, I've never been the same since. I still have memories of the flavors. I cannot wait to experience this heaven again. Their creativity is off the charts! One of the best burger joints out there.

(Perspective) Biblical "You Abel, and Able?"

Genesis 4:1-7   Hebrews 11:4  *Hebrews: "By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks" *Genesis: Cain brought an offering of fruit from the ground. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock. God repescted Abel's but did not respect Cain's.  The Lord asks why Cain is angry? "Why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it." He, in fact, did not rule over sin. He did not ask for God's help. He instead, went to his brother to complain and eventually unalived him.  *Hebrews 4"...and through it being dead, still speaks." Abel offered his firstborn. Small details God notices. Are we, like Abel, "able" to put our first for God? Our time? Our effort? Our off...

"A Trap Baited With Pleasure" Social Causes Friday Forces of Habit book discussion

Forces of Habit Drugs and the Making of the Modern World for Social Causes Friday Youtube Podcast Segment One 30 Sept 2022: Chapter 5 Introduction Common belief is that the majority of drugs are dangerous, best limited for use under medical supervision. Also seen as seductive product for capitalist, merchants, political elites who tax and see them as a great source of revenue. -P6 91: "The clash between opportunities for profit and concerns about health forms the central moral and political conflict running through the history of psychoactive commerce." Question that must be considered, Pg 91: "What is it about drugs that generates so much demand? And why do some people...sacrifice everything they possess to acquire them?" -In short, drugs are poisons- in evolutionary terms, "accidental intoxication may be valuable" giving an organism warning signal to stay from it. To seek after intoxication then profit from it is paradoxical. -Andrew Weil arguse all...
