(Perspective) Biblical: Humiliation Process-Advent and Christmas

Humiliation Process
Read Philippians 2:5-11
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but [b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.


He humbled Himself and became obedient. Some church backgrounds refer to His time on earth as His humiliation period. He subjected Himself to obedience during this time, even to the point of death.

Really think about that. Some of you may have already had the near death experience, so you may be able to more easily relate to these feelings. Christ, being aware of His power, was still willing to set that aside to sacrifice Himself for us. Let us humble our minds like Christ’s to serve and sacrifice a bit of ourselves to serve our fellow man. Especially during the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Others need to know what this time of year and focus is really about. It needs to be celebrated year round. We profess
that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow of these in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…

Countless times I've expressed the expansive variety of options we're gifted here on Earth. Why do we limit ourselves to options ABCD, though? We're told we have free will. We're told we can do what we want with our bodies and choose when to have kids  But what does it really look like to have free will? I'll tell you now. Not caring about the options at all.
